Incredible Edible Landscapes
“In wilderness lies the hope of the world” – John Muir
A TED talk hosted by Pam Warhurst about ‘How We Can Eat Our
Landscapes’ has now been seen by over a million people and has inspired
thousands with the community-based concept. If you have not yet seen it, you
need to.
It started in a little town called Todmorden, a small market
town in West Yorkshire, England. A group of locals met in a café, Pam Warhurst
being one, they developed a concept of how they could develop their town into a
kinder, connected community.
The concept of an edible town flourished from there. The Incredible
Edible network now contains over 100 groups in the UK and 600 globally have
joined the network. The idea is beyond inspiring, it encourages you to go
outdoors and try and develop the same amazing community for your own little
town. It promotes healthy eating on a community level, invests in the kindness
of your fellow neighbours, encourages bee-friendly sites, creates spaces for
children to learn about where their food comes from, increases the local
economy.
The benefits are endless.
